The gardens are quite extensive. You can visit them before or after the museum. In addition to being populated with a large number of plants and trees, there is a display that highlights and describes all of the various missions in Alta California. Again, just a sampling of what you can see in the garden is shown here. You could wander through it for several hours to see everything. Various cacti are on display throughout the garden.
This olive tree could be an original. Its trunk consists of several wrapping around each other.
Likewise, various tools that might have been used outside are displayed in the garden.
Along the Church, long-closed doors are overgrown by vines.
